I just saw Kathryn Bigelow’s new film A House of Dynamite and it’s phenomenal. Sadly, Netflix has only given it a very limited theatrical release. If you wanna see it in a theater (highly recommended), better catch it in the next week (and that’ll only work if you live in a major city).

Sad that we’ve lost Dr Jane Goodall (or “that Jane Goodall tramp” as some fondly knew her). Always high on my list of people I greatly admire.
She shared some wonderful wise advice during her life, advice that typically went ignored in the halls of power in our Earth destroying capitalist hellscape.

Beck Lawrence says Pennsylvania’s no fortune-telling rule is antiquated and their attorney plans to abolish it. Inside The Serpent's Key, you can find jewelry, candles and T-shirts. Now the store is also the headquarters for an effort to abolish a law written back in 1861. Lawrence says they felt like Hanover police Chief Chad Martin and another officer threatened them for reading tarot cards in October, a lawyer looked more closely at the no-fortune telling law enacted in 1861. Beck's attorney, Alexa Gervasi, and representatives for the police department have corresponded back and forth since then. Gervasi says enforcing the law would violate Beck's First Amendment right to free speech. "At first, I laughed, it's so ludicrous, and I was like, classic PA would have this crazy law still on the books. I think we are united in the idea of how absurd this law is. And particularly now, I think we are very protective of our freedoms and our rights and to say and do what we want and have experiences," Gervasi said. Beck's shop has multiple signs saying their readings are for entertainment purposes only but also part of the business. "The 14th Amendment protects your right to earn a living in your chosen profession. We call it economic liberty, and that is being interfered with here," Gervasi said. Beck and their lawyer plan to bring a suit against the Hanover Police Department and ultimately abolish the fortune-telling restrictions in Pennsylvania.
