The only people saying “toxic” masculinity are the right-wing building a strawman. Not once in our history has there been a movement to discriminate against men, remove their right to vote or restrict their bodily autonomy. The “war on masculinity” is a falsehood.

How can we maximise the benefits of AI, while addressing the externality of environmental destruction?

No one is talking about how AI is a disability aid - not that I should need to rephrase comms to make NT people comfortable - but reduces barriers in work. I get AI to compose based on my inputs, then I edit (stronger editing skills than writing skills).

As someone who is neurodivergent and has learning disabilities, the incorporation of AI into my everyday life and work has been a significant enabler. Hours spent thinking how to order and phrase words so it reads well for neurotypical people (and doesn’t offend - NT don’t like direct comms) saved.

I disagree with the figure of flows in your blog, because it doesn’t account for the creation of fiat currency by governments through spending, nor taxation as a mechanism that removes currency from circulation. Further, debt and appreciating assets aren’t in your model.

Information asymmetry and imperfect information is one example of how mainstream (neoclassical) economics is not connected to real world. Neoclassical assumes symmetry.

Heterodox views question the NAIRU on both theory and practice. The NAIRU ignores more complex factors like the economy, institutions, and society. Other ideas, like demand-led policies and job guarantees, could lead to full employment without hurting social fairness or economic stability. /FIN

Feminist economics point out that policies based on the NAIRU disproportionately hurt women and marginalised groups, who are more likely to lose their jobs and get paid less.

The NAIRU ignores unpaid and underpaid care work, which makes up a substantial part of our economy.

Instead of focusing solely on economic concepts like the NAIRU, we should consider how inflation management should align with ecological limits and resource distribution.

Ecological economists are not fans of the NAIRU’s idea that growth is the only way to deal with unemployment. They’re all about degrowth strategies and employment models that can be done without harming the environment e.g a Cth funded, locally deployed job guarantee focused on climate change

MMT says inflation is caused by resource shortages, not unemployment. MMT suggests it’s better to control the economy by spending money, rather than pretending there’s no unemployment.
