As a Mississauga councillor the city sent letters supporting ASE to the Province and were active in AMOs united efforts to oppose their removal. I personally spoke in favour of them multiple times, encouraged police to do so & texted the Premier's phone.
They are being removed to follow the law

Some politicans. With few exception municipal leaders were pretty unanimous that there were community safety devices. Cities collectively said they would be fine to tighten rules such as 10km minimum or school zone only or time of day dependent but there was willingness to make changes.

I don't know Hillcrest specifically but our standard has been to look at redesign when roads are due for resurfacing work. It's more cost effective. One example of redesign Creditwoodlands recently done. Coming 2026-27 Central, Creditview (n of Britannia) & Bristol (Ceremonial to Creditview)

It was a good compromise. I seconded the motion. We did as the article says reduce the hours to a bit earlier and are going to work with the industry to limit sales of the loudest ones. The 40-50 residents present in the council chamber did applaud the vote.

Mississauga has approved a range of garden suites including providing free pre-approved designs. We have four plexus approved.
We cut DCs 50% or by 100% for family units (3-bedrooms) in purpose built rental apartments.
We defer and collect City residential DCs at occupancy not during construction.
