A fair assessment. I think what some have concerns about (I am not included. I still have Tyreek in my top 5) is how he will age, when what makes him great is his speed. Does he have the ability to adapt his game as Father Time passes by? I think the answer is yes.

The real fit is Edgecombe's athleticism paired with Maxey and McCain's shooting.

Edgecombe was the guy I had pegged for the Sixers since they received the third overall pick; Ace Bailey was never on my wishlist, simply because his fit with this team is awkward. Edgecombe can play in a lineup with Jared McCain and Tyrese Maxey, though it would be a smaller lineup.

Simply put, Fangio was not in the building when the Eagles drafted Brown. He’s not a “Fangio guy.” Now he’s buried on the depth chart behind Blankenship, DeJean and likely Mukuba.

Losing a series to the Pirates is despicable. Even with Harper’s absence considered. Dombrowski needs to make a move for a bat. The Phillies’ other $300 million man is incapable of carrying a team. What a waste of a contract. I don’t care he’s batting over .300. When it matters, the guy can’t hit.

Painter is coming. Move one of Ranger Suarez or Cris Sanchez to the bullpen. Give Abel and Painter the starts. Get Nola back. Regroup. The Phillies seem to struggle for a few series after every time they play the Braves.

Who do you keep fresh? The starters or the bullpen? With so many good starters, I understood the calculus. But to leave a good, young pitcher in to wear 12 earned runs is simply disheartening. I thought it would be detrimental to the rest of Luzardo’s season…seemingly I was right. At least for now.

The issue is the Phillies offense during his absence. The Phillies’ series high runs scored mark sat at 5. The absence demonstrated yet again the need for another bat in this lineup if they want to contend with the best of the NL.

In his two starts against the Braves this season, Wheeler has allowed 5 and 6 earned runs. Another concerning element through this series was the absence of Bryce Harper. Harper will be fine, suffering an elbow contusion during his first at bat in Game 1.
