I'd say they're surface more than stupid. What I've seen over the years is that often times the "disruptors" don't deeply understand the problems they're trying to solve. They're arrogant. They think the incumbent hasn't thought about the obvious.

The Innoficiency Principle

The Innoficiency Principle states that innovation and efficiency are mutually opposable goals. In any reasonably functioning organization, one cannot be increased without decreasing the other.

Yep, time to decouple.

To my other replies, Ganz also talked about how this is where Democrats went wrong in the last election. He mentions they keep behaving like a brand but are lacking real connection to the communities they serve.

What does "commitment" look like in this new landscape? To Ganz, commitment is found through shared values. How do you connect shared values in a fragmented media world we're in? To me, that's the work to be done and I agree it needs to be dominant in the digital & social ecosystem.

Makes sense all around. Though I'm reminded of Marshall Ganz and the idea that community = commitment. What we're seeing in this new landscape is not community, it's transactional and lacks commitment. Perhaps that's where the opportunity is in this challenge for America.

Bingo. I don't think the playbook has run through all the scenarios. The next questions becomes: If the US federal government collapses and US economy weakens dramatically, how does that too affect the top 1%'s wealth and current apparatus of wealth as power? The State governments gain power.

Bingo.

And also, won't Congress as a whole eventually wake up to the idea that with what's unfolding the function of Congress is effectively being eliminated. So this idea of protecting your Congress job or re-election is moot. Would that not unify Congress with a bipartisan agenda of not losing Congress?

Help me understand a scenario if you could Seth: If the run on the fed and it's institutions causes states to lose confidence in the function of the federal government, doesn't the federal government lose it's power? ie. They stop collecting taxes for the fed.
