I suspect/know there are a lot of great ones still being written, but nobody knows they exist. Anything that bubbles up far enough to get noticed is of the "booktok" variety and everything else disappears. But it's there.

I can't plow through a "great story" if the craft is bad. I have started DNFing more too, because there's SO MUCH to choose from and the next one may be wonderful.

What's it about? It's about a guy who just wants to play ball. American football, to be precise. It's 50 or so years post a pandemic that turned some survivors into an equivalent of vampires.
