Dual 🇨🇦/🇺🇸family. Longtime fan of the Raptors and Canada Basketball. Billionaires shouldn’t exist. Hoping for kinder times.
Understood, but an example that “bench” doesn’t mean “dregs” - a good bench contributes greatly when the chemistry, manpower & usage are aligned. I think fondly of our old bench mob. Maybe IQ could lead the next generation. THAT would be an enormous contribution and get him back on a good track.

Wemby is coming off the bench.

Agree. What’s the solution? This hasn’t been a winning roster since COVID. There’s no sense of success & what’s needed to achieve it. Missing players seems to mean a shorthanded mindset too. Boston has that dog attitude - reorg and go!SB has it somehow too. You need a team full of that mindset.

💯 agree with you re Brad Stevens. And Mazzula’s coaching. Whether they can battle for the top? Time will tell. But they have the dog in them.

Not sure why you think I said we were not outplayed. We were. I argue Boston was not missing multiple top players. They’re missing one - Brown. We were missing Jak, RJ, and realistically IQ. Bad game. No heart at all. Boston still has that championship pride that we’ve yet to find. Changes needed.

Porzingis missed a lot of last year and has struggled this year. Jrue winding down, ditto Horford.
December 21, 2025 at 2:23 AM
Roster money not really relevant. Outplayed, outcoached, and outmuscled, yes. Might also have been different if the refs were calling the aggressive fouls early in the game. Waited until Scottie was whiplashed by Queta.

So when BI wasn’t playing last year was he “missing” every time we played? I don’t follow the idea guys out for the year should be counted each game as “not playing”. Celtics have restructured and re game-planned without him. Not at all like someone who is just out for a short time.
December 21, 2025 at 2:10 AM
Celtics are not “extremely” shorthanded. Tatum out for the season - team reorganized accordingly. You don’t keep counting him as “out”. They’re missing Brown. We’re missing Jak, RJ & I’d argue IQ too. They’re out-muscling us and have multiple 3pt shooters. Also better coached and more experienced.

All of this.

This is the correct review of the game. Add to that we won two quarters and lost the 4th quarter by one point. Knicks played their starters til just over a minute left in the game. Great experience that will pay dividends later.

I mean, congratulations to them for perfecting the one shot in the game that counts the most, and to Mazzula for schemes that make it possible to take so many of them in a flowing game but it takes away so many other aspects of a highly entertaining sport. 47 threes attempted in a 48 minute game?

Co-winners.

Especially compared to his current teammates who are uber active at all times.

My take-away on Castleton last year was his lack of desire to find a different gear. He’d look at the ball for a moment before moving toward it as if hoping someone else would get it instead.

They had a hand in creating the cellar-dwelling people they’re referring to.

I saw that shot too! He’s in a Canada shirt! Way to go Nav!

Can’t wait to watch terrific, fast, creative basketball! That 4 Cdn players will play key roles and 2 will be NBA champs is a testament to all who dedicated themselves to growing the sport here over decades of sacrifice. And it’s just a glimpse of the pipeline to come. (Pascal = honorary Canadian)

That’s not actually what it says. There’s no reference to 7’, just “big men” declining in number. But when those big men are Jokic, Giannis, KD, Mobley at 6’11; AD, Banchero, Sabonis etc at 6’10, they’re not traffic cones. Anyway, appreciate thinking about things in new ways. Enjoy the playoffs.

When the scoring was set, a 7ft player was rare. Players were weaker so distance mattered. Still does but as much? Now put a few 7 ftrs btwn you and your floater. The game is changing. Celtics leading some of that. Not everyone is convinced it’s good but we’ll see. Enjoy the rest of the playoffs.

This is fascinating, thanks! Death of the long 2 might account for paint increase, or why not take a couple of hops back and go from 3. What’s the source on this btw? As a serious fan only since about 2012, interesting that I’ve watched these increases in real time.
May 11, 2025 at 4:58 AM
Can you share your stats source on the balance of shots taken? Today vs 15 yrs ago? It sure looks like the Cs shoot more threes than most (any) other team. And yes, players are indeed bigger stronger faster. Maybe that also means the need to reward the 3 is no longer warranted.
May 11, 2025 at 4:34 AM
Fans don’t see the creation work behind most 3’s (example Pritchard runs to the line and fires away like a kid in a playground). It’s obvi way harder than it looks and defences are better than ever. But it’s just a basketball play. Why award it more?

That also means 43 of the attempts were of a variety of different moves and skills and types/levels of athleticism…and 40 were doing the same thing over and over. Yes, they were more on their game today. Excellent on both sides of the ball.
