I think game meat is really only popular in parts of rural America. I haven't had any since I was a kid, as it's largely unavailable/expensive. It's generally pretty rare to see wild game offered anywhere but in a private meal or the most expensive restaurants.

Earlier stages of capitalism sucked less in some ways, primarily competition for product quality. I remember having everyday things in the family that were passed down mutliple generation and then we hit y2k and shit started breaking constantly. Unsustainable though; this was inevitable.

Our has the warm blow dry but it takes a min to dry sometimes, and I don't wanna sit there for 5m to dry 😭. I love the dryer tho.

It would be stranger if the ACA subsidies didn't also come with highly restrictive regulations they'd rather do without. Profitable insurance is mitigating risk to maximize reward, and the ACA prevents insurers from min-maxing by forcing them to accept risk that's much more difficult to offset.
November 8, 2025 at 2:54 PM
I don't think the Republicans would be doing this if the pharma/insurance companies weren't backing them, tbh. Can't know, unfortunately, either way until after it all shakes out.
November 8, 2025 at 2:43 PM
If the ACA dies, insurance companies benefit. They aren't speaking out bc they have all the cards. With a R supermajority, they can thwart alternatives to the ACA. The R's attacks on insurer's are an obvious distraction. Pharma and insurance funnel millions their campaigns each year.

"more affordable" doesn't preclude HC being unaffordable. Sorry for not being explicit. No one is saying HC is solved, just that the ACA is better than nothing.

Also, this only touches on the conditions post-ACA, lacking scope needed to damn the ACA. It is damning of the HC system in general, sure.
November 8, 2025 at 4:25 AM
It seems pointless to nitpick the long term efficacy of the ACA instead of focusing on the fact that we have no plan for an alternative. The ACA has been a generous improvement over the "free market" bullshit we dealt with before the ACA, but still proves public healthcare is the only real solution.
November 8, 2025 at 4:11 AM
This is a dubious claim. The rate of personal bankruptcy for medical reasons fell in Medicare expansion states and annual premium growth rates dropped post ACA. The costs still rise because HC is still private. It is obviously not sustainable, but *is* currently the only tangible aid we have.

I figured, really wanted to confirm my suspicions about the situation more than anything. Hard to wrap my brain around the absolute dedication to legal procedure in the face of the inhumanity on Jackson's part.
