The minute this news broke I had public employees reaching out in concern, including a law enforcement officer who texted: this will kill recruitment.

Re: Loss of NHD funding. The amount of money lost by the folks at my little college in their TIAA accounts this past week would fund NHD for years.

National History Day has lost its funding. Middle and high school students study and present an exhibit, documentary, web page, play or paper on an event or person. Seriously, they've lost $350.000 because of DOGE. Support education much?

As predicted my hats are safe. Iowa Gov Kim Reynolds took less than a day to sign a bill stripping trans Iowans of their civil rights. It’s a sad day in a long string of sad days.

I weep for Iowa, my home state, for denying civil liberties to trans people. The governor hasn’t signed it yet, but if she doesn’t, I’ll eat my hat. 😭😡
