Music, books, other stuff.

Idiots, the lot of you.
I love that David was playing for old greyhounds and lurchers. So much more Jilly Cooper Gloucestershire than I could ever have imagined.

(Also massively against people insisting we should know before the end. It would add an extra “I want him to win because of the donkeys/doggies” angle that would sentimentalise the show unnecessarily.)

Who?

You’ve only gone to bloody Barcelona, Jenna. It’s two and a half hours on bloody EasyJet.

You’re not trekking the Hindu Kush on borrowed mules.

Only one semi memorable song in the whole thing and I presume that was in the first film.

I can recount times that I didn’t even get my finished cup of tea back down on the table before it was being swiped away to wash up.

I’m now convinced it is actually less film promotion, more a recruitment scheme for some sort of cult. It’s all so weird.

My algorithm has just shown me a clip of a journalist telling them they are making women be brave and courageous and helping us deal with grief. All quite, quite mad.

(I’d like to put on record that the hyphen misuse was autocorrect not me.)

Yes, just flicking through the Mail (loads of book/film/TV reviews on Friday) on my library app and it’s reviewer is much kinder to it.

Unless it’s American or Scandinavian.

Absolutely right (and who likes every single episode of that? No one. I think it speaks very well of Havers and Dobson to kickstart it for almost no money (yes, yes, they’ve got enough, but…).
November 14, 2025 at 8:42 AM
Exactly. And the idea that every Wednesday play or Play for Today was influential is ludicrous and no TV show could ever live up to the comparison. I’m looking forward to see what a couple of writers do with their slots.
November 14, 2025 at 8:28 AM
Agree. I’ll watch them all just because I really want writers and actors to get these sort of gigs again. I won’t like them all: I shouldn’t expect to.

I m one of those miserable old cows who absolutely hates these big charity drives that focus on personality and idiotic challenges.
November 14, 2025 at 8:19 AM
I’ve seen the odd clip that turns up on my socials and it looks like tortuous. I really hate the bosses pretending it’s all for “the poor kiddies” when it’s just seems an excuse to put someone through hell for horrible viewers/listeners’ entertainment.
November 14, 2025 at 8:14 AM
Ah I just deleted because it read back as if I was telling you off and didn’t mean it to sound like that!
November 14, 2025 at 7:46 AM
Same.

Yes, that thing where you’re massively into them and then suddenly you look at them and can’t bear the idea of them ever touching you again. #TheArchers

Yes, that’s the clue I missed.
