I agree about concern! I too am concerned, especially given the comments of the Committee members toward the funding agency reps in attendance.

My understanding is that the motion was passed based on the agreement of anonymity, so it will be held. The presiding chair of the committee (Liberal) would have the power to recall the motion if that agreement not held. We'd have to watch for the actual written request to Tri-Council to check

interestingly, all the publishers' metadata already links any paper to every paper it cites (and vice versa); my fave tool for looking at these "citation webs" is Dimensions - find a paper by DOI (or any Boolean search) and then off you go down the wormhole! e.g. app.dimensions.ai/details/publ...

It feels very inefficient and I don't think there's any way to reduce that number - unless anyone can convince my cat to like me or magically reduce the fire risk of anything touching the toaster.
