Thank you for asking 💕 my wee mum has lung cancer, inoperable and incurable. Appointment on Tuesday to find out what flavour it is and what treatment there might be. Im currently on a fairly even keel but it’s been a rough couple of weeks.

This is a long way of saying - two things: every person in my mum’s ward was a smoker with high blood pressure. Please stop smoking. And women: do not let medical professionals fob you off. Advocate for yourself and make a scene. Trust yourself.

She was never the same after that. In my maudlin moments, I feel like I lost my mum the night she had her operation. She’s not the same. I’m grateful she’s still with me and I’d die for her, but she’s not the same.

She nearly died after the surgery in the ITU.
God bless the doctor and nurses in the ITU who saved her life again and cared for her so tenderly. I’ll never forget seeing her in there, wires and machines beeping and the angry, jagged wound across the top of her head.
