And the CDC has officially decided to switch back from Mpox to Monkeypox. A reminder, the world still uses Mpox, this disease does not come from monkeys, Mpox is less stigmatizing and racist. Switching back is just meaningless, unnecessary, racist, and homophobic.

While the world has been on perpetual fire and dealing with the whirlwind of public health issues being thrown at it, the CDC STI Treatment Guidelines for Trans and Gender Diverse folks was removed. This is the government directly interfering in medical care of a historically neglected population.

And some stuff on congenital syphilis, some interesting data on 1 vs. 3 shots of Bicillin for syphilis of unknown or late duration, and Mgen.
It was a great conference, lots of fun, great colleagues, and STI folks are the best!

Our team at WashU did some amazing work! Anne Trolard won a young investigators award! @dlhong.bsky.social and myself got to present our preliminary results of the LIMIT Trial showing lidocain significantly reduces pain at 10 mins after bicillin shot, and Dr. Germysha Little presented on CHWs

4 (Cont) - @drjenellstewart.bsky.social et al looked at doxyPEP given once weekly as directly observed therapy in cis- women. Data showed a trend towards 61% decline in chlamydia (p-0,11). A reminder, this is just a pilot, but very exciting to see doxyPEP works (when taken)

Decided I’m gonna wear #Pride adjacent political tshirts throughout the month. Today’s is #ACTUP Silence = Death. The pink triangle commemorating LGBT+ individuals who were persecuted and labeled during internment in WWII with that symbol. In the 80s ACTUP used the symbol as a call to action for HIV
