Regarding this Republican administration's "flood the zone" strategy, it's easy to become disenchanted and disengaged when confronted with so much new, disheartening information. And a big part of the strategy is just messaging, not policy change. Here's my aim for processing and staying engaged:

I really appreciate @stevemagness.bsky.social take on masculinity here--promoting excellence among men/boys alongside care for others. It inspires my own parenting of my 3 boys, and has helped me appreciate the role of other men who have embodied that dynamic (e.g., their male elementary teachers).

Iowa City has a below-market rate mandate, and one of my favorite podcasts, Good of Paper, hosted by @jerusalem.bsky.social, recently had a guest on who talked about how those mandates can backfire to reduce housing stock and increase the housing costs. It was a fascinating listen on housing policy.
