The length of the Elizabeth line is equivalent to that of Liverpool to Sheffield via Manchester. Which both proves your point about the size of (Greater) London and makes a good case for linking Northern cities together with much better infrastructure to help them compete with London:

Indeed.

Zack is talking about the climate and biodiversity crisis, but it’s not the issue where our policies and competency needs more cut through to the wider population. People need to trust us across multiple issues in order to give us their vote, so it’s good strategy to cover other important bases rn.

Dear UKIP peeps we sent home with your tails between your legs from Newcastle today; here is how you do pride in your country with joy, diversity, inclusivity, passion, hard work and respect. Please take note. Congrats to the amazing Red Roses.

It is already party policy (which in the Greens is set by members, not the leadership) to rejoin. It was in our 2024 manifesto:

Slightly concerned that approximately 10% of the electorate appear open to a “Warlord model” of Defence.

Have you actually read the article? What Zack’s saying (and so am I) is “you want the same things as us, and we’re stronger together, and we’ve already done the work of setting up a party, so it’d be great if you joined us rather than starting from scratch.” How is that negative campaigning?

We’re finding that’s increasingly not the case as people’s disillusionment increases. And even where that’s still a factor it can be overcome by having good candidates working hard in an area over a period of time. But this requires money and volunteers and early adopters continuing to vote Green.

Slightly better in terms of number of seats. But more importantly, Labour wouldn’t have had a majority so would have needed support from other parties to do stuff. Lib Dems and others would have a much fairer share of power under PR.

Great to catch up with all the lovely greenies from across North East England at our annual gathering today. Really appreciate
@zackpolanski.bsky.social taking the time to attend in person for the leadership hustings, and showing support for Dr Sarah Peters’ South Jesmond by-election campaign.

I can’t believe Newcastle @libdems.org.uk just voted down @nclgreenparty.bsky.social’s friendly amendment on their welfare bill, that sought to add a requirement for council leaders to meet with local disability groups, simply because our motion mentioned the *option* of a wealth tax.

The front page doesn’t show time stamps on my mobile. Regardless, it’s quite clear the bbc doesn’t prioritise posts in order of recency, as these example screenshots from the news page just now demonstrate

She was already a Labour Party member at the time and voted for Jeremy Corbyn, yes.

The Green Party is the obvious political home for people who cannot stay with Labour in its current incarnation.
