I can only hope! 😄

A late artist friend of mine (RIP) once told me, “you’re more than purple lady just like I’m more than the tree guy.” He caught onto my purples long before I did 😅 obviously - he painted a lot of trees 🌳

Those are yummy colors too. I feel foreign and strange when I paint warmer but I still make myself do it to expand my boundaries 🪐

One color I love the look of but can never really successfully work with is pthalo green. Green acrylic is especially hard too 😫 odd cause I paint a lot of nature…

Yes! Watercolors did exactly that for me 😄 there is still room to “fix”/“remove” things but you have to let go of expectations. Even on my super detailed stuff I never know how it will turn out til it’s done. Also if you try too much to fix something the paper will tear. Gotta roll with it!

That’s a tough one but I would say I consistently come back to dioxazine purple. I’ve had to try to “train” out my desire to work in cooler tones. But I have several different palettes I work with so it’s not always exactly the same.

It’s definitely a learning curve for sure. I went from primarily ink illustration to watercolor so for me I was like freeedoom! lol, but it also really helped my wrists relax a bit. I know oils can be endlessly mixed in a similar matter to watercolor so maybe it’s not all that different?

Ohh those colors are indeed JUICY 😜

I know a lot of folks struggle with watercolor but something about it just clicked for me & I’ve not let it go since I started seriously painting with it 5-6 years ago.

Oils on the other hand… I’ve not made it yet to paints but I’ve struggled through pastels 🫠

Yup! Been there! I do acrylics less often than watercolor, but enough to have a system now cause there’s no saving that paint once it starts to dry!

That’s the miss Boo Bear 🐻 special. Every night she jumps right in the bed and will not allow books or word puzzles or even sleep until she gets adequate love and attention 🐈‍⬛ 💜

(tmi?) olive green, raw umber, payne’s grey, gamboge, madder lake deep, indigo

Thank you! It’s a combo of a custom travel palette I made last year, plus a mix of “whatever is left on the tray.” That’s typically how it goes with watercolors 😀

Kitchen magic 🪄

Oranges not only strengthen the immune system - they also energize and uplift the spirit.

Likewise growing up picking wild blackberries and blueberries, the berry aspect soothes my soul 😌

It appears there are actually people out there who feel like they are on the “right” track at the “appropriate” speed, but I am certainly not one of them! 🙃

I’ve started job hunting again and all I hear is how everything is streamlined via AI. I still refuse to use any template makers. I wrote my cover letter and resume myself! Now I sit and wait and wonder if it will get through the fuzz and fog of all those algorithmic filters (sigh). 😮‍💨
