However, there are differences in protein expression between PART and CTE in the hippocampus, including NeuN which is high in definite PART but low in CTE, certain microglial markers, and some proteins involved in response to oxidative stress or mitochondrial damage.

We found that PART and CTE display several similarities in protein expression that are distinct from AD, perhaps in relation to lower levels of beta-amyloid … which could be secondary to the maintenance of expression of proteins involved in proteostasis and beta-amyloid processing.
