Literacy tests was just one method racist white state lawmakers used to prevent former slaves from voting in the former confederate states, and unfortunately it worked. Now though, I’d be curious to know how many people(of all backgrounds) would actually fail such a test.
We need to reinstate literacy tests for voting. It was racist from 1890-1960, but would mostly just exclude White people in Red States today.
