Had a great day at TABSCon, playing 5 games, 3 new to me, trading 4 things in the math trade, picking up a KS from a group buy, and helping friends do some swaps of various kinds… then came home and played Frosthaven with 13yo and Monica. Tired but it was awesome! Really enjoyed Cretaceous Rails!

Was too busy gaming through Saturday and Sunday to post more, but here’s my #BreakoutCon summary:
3 days
18 plays of 14 games
including some of my very favourites
10 new to me
with 33 different players,
17 at least 2x
And a really awesome time.
All with an N95 to keep all the viruses away

Can I pick you up by saying that lots of people are talking about playing Newmill trick takers around BreakoutCon this weekend (check out the entry in this scheduler thread: boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/352...), and tonight I finally got to enjoy London Necropolis Railway there? @ulible.bsky.social

Day 2 of #BreakoutCon on #LongCOVIDAwarenessDay, I’m playing in the masks mandatory room.
1st up, really enjoyed Resafa, the new Vladimir Suchy game

Finished off day 1 of #BreakoutCon with our annual tradition: Battlestar Galactica. Hot Dog was my character and President Baltar set him up to look like a Cylon, which got me sent to the brig until the 2nd mid game Cylon Cally killed me off. Came back as political Lee Adama but too little too late!

3rd game of #BreakoutCon Toronto 2025 was a wild 9P Stationfall and my Doctor Jekyll collaborated with Doctor Hyde and the Counsellor for my narrow 8-7-6-4-3-3-3-3-0 win!

That game of Avenue went rather well!

Wow. A perfect solo MetroX board. Got an even higher score once with better transfers, but it was my lucky night!

One of the more satisfying sets of punch outs from a game.

More of the games, and shows the tier of ones I mainly play with Monica, or somewhat frequently with the kids (or some they play without me now!)

We play a lot of games. Not as many as some years (long COVID makes it a little tougher), but still a lot! Co-ops as a family trio (or 2p Marvel United campaign with 12yo) some quick roll and writes solo, then the next tier of 2P Monica and I.

First two (2P) plays of Civolution, the new (and biggest?) Feld - and really enjoyed it. Fun stuff to do with those dice, with some Castles of Burgundy vibes but doing mostly peaceful civ-like stuff. Really liked it - might be my fave non-KS new game of the year?

My BGA night with former coworkers:
The Yellow House - new
Daybreak 3p win with my personal challenge card ❤️❤️❤️
Castle Combo - new and lives up to the buzz

First game of the year is Daybreak and we hit Drawdown, though the oceans were almost pure acid by the end. ☹️

Really enjoyed our first play of Arborea - super cute art, vibrant colour, trippy time sequencing villager placement, and I got rocked!
December 18, 2023 at 6:29 PM
Very satisfying Life of the Amazonia game! Other weeknight games in this last week of work before 17 days off - Cascadia, Raising Robots
December 15, 2023 at 2:11 AM
Epic Terraforming Mars - we pushed Venus first and ended up going 13 turns 2P. Got lucky with Saturn, tons of Jupiter cards and both the ones that score per Jupiter. Her Robinson was still really good!

Pretty nice tour, that one

Tonight it was 4P Daybreak - 14 joined us as well and liked it too! Drawdown on turn 4 - lots of clean energy exported to the majority world from China and USA. Wish the world were working together as well at #COP28 as we did tonight!
November 30, 2023 at 2:07 AM
Taught 12 and Monica Daybreak - played at easy (accidentally even a bit easier) and we hit drawdown! Love the theme, aesthetic, card play and the no plastic production!
