Fried chicken Friday took us to The Rub in Alexandria this week. Enjoyed the atmosphere and fun sandwich options. The buttermilk chicken was solid but we thought the spice options were too weak.

I’ve gotten pretty serious about weight lifting, and am now training for my first competition. My fellow gym-goers have been very supportive. Last week one of the trainers joked they’re gonna have to buy more weights for me 😅

It’s Fried Chicken Friday and today was a smash hit. Queen Mother in Crystal City cooks everything in duck fat and boy was that delish. Strong bread and sauce game too. We think this might tie our best experience so far.

I made my mom’s pumpkin pie recipe for my colleagues for Pi Day. I could eat this for every meal.

Today’s Fried Chicken Friday entry is Cheogajip in Centerville, VA. This was damn good. Crispy skin, juicy meat, and the soy garlic sauce was beautiful.

The last couple years have been a rediscovery of video games for me, and I fell in love with the soulslike format after playing Hades. Lately trying more co-op titles like Windblown and Sworn and loving what developers are coming up with.

My wife and I always surprise each other with fun Valentine’s Day cards and sometimes a theme emerges. This year it was our shared love of cheese lol.

More progress on the entertainment center. Structure is complete and electronics are in. Need to build a wood mantle, and trying to decide what color to paint it.

My friends and I were struck by how many fried chicken places we have in the area and began a new tradition, “fried chicken Friday,” where every two weeks we try a new one and see how it rates. This week was Uncle C’s in Alexandria. Very crispy fry, killer waffles.

My wife asked for an end table recently and this is what I came up with. Really proud of this one.

The entertainment center is coming together. I chose shiplap for ease of installation and painting. A hidden pullout shelf will come out the side and contain the game systems. I created a removable panel behind the TV for wire access as well.

Went to see the Dropout improv tour with my wife last night. Incredible show. Made me very nostalgic for my own improv days. If you’ve never checked out any of the content from dropout you should, definitely worth the $6/month.

Spent the weekend focusing on projects. Working on an entertainment center for the living room.
