It took over a 100 years to work out what this corroded lump of tiny bronze gears actually DID. It predicts the position of the sun, moon, and five visible planets, and also eclipses, for hundreds of years from when it was made. We have no idea how the Ancient Greeks knew how to make it.

The oldest known analogue computer. It dates back to about 100BCE. It was found by sponge divers just off the coast of the tiny Greek island of Antikythera in 1900CE, among a whole bunch of bronze statues and amphoras of wine - clearly a wealthy merchant shipwreck.
