This is a disaster not merely for Morecambe but for the whole of football. Yet another club brought to the brink by an entirely unsuitable owner acting without any regulatory constraints.

And 2., and related, how ridiculously over-represented news about private schools is in the media. This debate over VAT, a fairly small and soft policy, has been done into the ground. Let's focus on the bigger stuff, that affects more than just a privileged 6 per cent of pupils!!

I certainly didn't quite appreciate how much of a difference it makes to people's confidence, values, and the way they approach the world and their lives before I got to university - when I first 'encountered' the issue. I think the same probably stands up for grammars in the 21st C too.

1. It's rarely politically salient - because the majority don't feel they're affected by them. When private & state schools are worlds apart, those not exposed to private schools don't see the injustice and inequality, and arguably see them as 'better' schools (I don't think they often are).
