I don't know if it does everything you're interested in, but Longwinter by Luka Rejec has cold rules.

It also has cold levels by the day and night on the in-game calendar. (I highly recommend Longwinter, in general.)

I like those two books more than the H2G2 series. I can only say that if you read them again, you may find you enjoy them. :)

The Strider solo mode version of the Journey procedure does allow real encounters during journeys, but I think it's not good for regular play because it can weaken the PCs too much before they reach their destination.

To be clear, many if not all of them weren't even OSR creators/players. They just wandered into some other place and made it unpleasant for someone who did a lot of work for other people.
