I would add to that, you can engage in more "typical" masculine activities socially without committing yourself to being in a toxic bro culture. I'm a huge football fan, and I've become very tightly knit into a group of fellow Packers fans, all but one of whom are women.

I have multiple copies of some of my favorite books when they release special editions. I think Orbit's work on anniversary editions has been phenomenal (now if only they'd do the rest of the Expanse anniversary editions...)

I had a kinda similar situation where an intern applicant applied and one of the questions they get asked is to name 4 books they have influenced their policy views. He named one of my top 5 favorite books, so I got excited. But his reasoning for why completely missed the entire point of the book.

That phenomenon was always so silly because they ALL claimed to be famous historical figures. There wasn't a single person who was like "Yeah, in my past life I was John Jones, apple farmer in upstate New York who died of consumption before his 40th birthday."

I genuinely can't comprehend it in a modern setting. It was always barbaric, but in the past most of society was ok with it. Nowadays to be in favor of it is just so truly perplexing.

When I think of rural America, my first thoughts always of course go to *checks notes* the famously East Coast Kennedy clan?

Meanwhile, someone reported and deleted my wiki sandbox for "false information" because I made an alt-history infobox. My private sandbox, that's not a real article...

I've been featuring my dude, Chips Ahoy!, in most of my book reviews this year. He's even dressed the part a couple of times.

Just read "Falling Free" by her, and the main protagonist is an older guy nearing retirement who falls in love with like a 19-year old, and he keeps reminding himself she is basically a child and its not right. They still ended up together at the end.

"Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire." It's right up your alley: a history book but it's in-universe for Star Wars. Really well done, and has all kinds of great stuff about the rivalries between the different military and intelligence branches.

In the Trump era, one party has gotten noticeably worse.

A lot of where we are right now is the product of major institutions not updating their worldview, but continuing with priors that don’t hold anymore, if they ever did.

I always assumed it was a gritty biopic of Greg Bear, is it not?
