Finally a few decent lightning strikes! Had been a quiet storm year for Chicago thus far.

Speaking of quiet, usually when you get a tower strike you hear some bigtime thunder, but for whatever reason a few of those were really oddly hushed (relatively, in my opinion)

If you live somewhere with clear skies and no smoke (sorry chicago) now would be an ideal time to point a camera north (pics from a maine webcam)

What a wild evening. Never experienced a dust storm in Chicago before. Happened to be in a good spot (in terms of photography at least) as it approached and passed through

Hail storm on approach earlier today in Chitown. Lakefront trail remained crowded, even during the storm 😂

Hiked upon a random proposal the other day at Mills Lake at Rocky Mountain National Park

The Loch - Rocky Mountain National Park. Insane wind, tough snow covered trail conditions, but absolutely worth it.

Absolutely beautiful start to the day in Chicago. Super cold though -- throw water in the air and watch it turn to vapor cold.

Some pretty cool ice around Montrose yesterday. I am curious if it is still there. Like tiny pancakes smushed on top of eachother

This morning in Chicago. Highly recommend going out for a sunrise if you are anxious. Walking around and taking in the colors really helps calm some nerves

The river was looking great tonight. Found a small patch of remaining shards of ice near Merch Mart too. Also shot a nice day to night, blue hour timelapse of all the lights coming on

Finally caught the Chicago river ice breaker. Much quicker than I was anticipating. Fun to see. I love how everyone just stops what they are doing to watch it go by

Went out for a lakefront stroll tonight. Good for the mind, though still very very very cold. Did make for some good timelapsing though.

6 year throwback straight to the feels. That dog was the absolute best. 100 plus pound newfie mix as loyal as they come. He had a sense of when something was wrong and would stay by your side til things were better. Side note, looks like Chiberia weather happened around this time then too

Morning selection. The way the ice makes the familiar feel new is the best.

The ice pancakes are beginning to make their way into the landscapes in Chicago.

Montrose Nights. Slight haze over the city, but a relatviely calm lake.

Few different comps, white balances, and focal lengths.* Shoutout to the man who advised walking a bit further to get the board of trade building in the shot (bright yellow/gold building)

The scene is coming together. Should be a fun week of outdoor hockey. First the Winter Classic. Then the Frozen Confines event (Big Ten Hockey)
