With its bright orange skin & eerie glandular swellings, the Resplendent Bush Frog (𝘙𝘢𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘴) from the misty grasslands of the #WesternGhats looks straight out of a #Halloween horror — except it’s very real and, unfortunately, critically endangered.

A curious little frog from my #WesternGhats trip last month. This species is highly endangered and is severely threatened by the loss of habitat due to the formation of tea & eucalyptus plantations in the hilly Munnar region.

While I have yet to review all my photos & reconfirm some of the IDs, here is a preliminary list of the #herpetofauna species from the recent trip to the southern Kerala side of the incredible #WesternGhats. 🐸 🐍 🦎 🐢

Been wandering the Kerala side of the southern Western Ghats for almost a week, and I’ve finally met, quite possibly, the most stunning frog on the planet. Photos from my phone do not do this frog any justice.

Happy #WorldRainforestDay! This reminds me that I have not been out wandering in a forest, rain or otherwise, in forever.

I may or may not have assembled an army of frog-loving children at yesterday's talk at the Festival of Biodiversity. Aside from the slight disappointment at not having live #frogs at the talk, I think the kids loved the talk. And I also learnt that poisonous frogs are a popular topic of discussion 🐸

It's been a while since I posted pictures from the field trip module to Tioman, so here is one of the smaller finds from the trip.

I hit up two of our local zoos, River Wonders & Night Safari, with the missus after ages, and we had an excellent welcoming committee!

Perhaps, we can check out Bird Paradise on the next cool, overcast day?

I decided to divert from my usual posting to share some wildlife pics.

I shot this while wandering the wilds of Berlin at the tail end of spring amidst a racket of calls from various young birds begging for breakfast. In this instance, breakfast was a scarabaeid beetle, perhaps a common cockchafer.

What a fantastic week! From listening to brilliant minds, diving deep into #herpetological research, running into old friends, and discussing #herping hotspots & issues in the region, my 1st WCH experience was nothing short of mindblowing.
So, are we still on for Gijón ’28?

S22: Changing Community Perceptions of Herpetofauna was a blast! We deviated slightly from the usual academic or research-based talks to discuss outreach, inclusivity, and availability of #herp science. Thanks for a wonderful time, everyone! #WCH10 🐸 🦎 🐢 🐍 🐊

Day 3 of #WCH10 is gonna be a wild one for me; co-chairing a symposium (schedule attached), giving a talk, and presenting a poster on @herpsocsg.bsky.social’s #ProjectRunOver.

Come by & find me at Meeting Room 5, or standing lost by my poster stand.

Day 2 of #WCH10 began with @herpsocsg.bsky.social’s pop-up stall! And now I’m in Room 14, attending S27: A Global Network for Community-based Conservation Practitioners.

Hoping for a much smoother day today!

And it begins, the 10th World Congress of Herpetology! Lets’s go! #WCH10

I was recently interviewed by the local Tamil-language paper & learned there isn't a Tamil term for 'Herpetological Society of Singapore', nor one in Malay or local Mandarin.
But with some digging & aid from @herpsocsg.bsky.social members from these language groups, we finally got it!

Last Wednesday, I was featured (briefly) on @ChannelNewsAsia's ‘Singapore Tonight’ to discuss the rock monitor (𝘝𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘴 ssp.), which found its way into an 11th-floor flat earlier this July.

Do you know the real source of your boba pearls?!

Happy #WorldFrogDay, everyone. There are almost 7,700 frog species worldwide, and about 30 are here in Singapore. But fret not, for none are sources of boba pearls.

I am super excited for the 10th World Congress of Herpetology, my first ever!

Do drop me a ping if you’d be attending or if you’d be keen on joining as a speaker for the symposium I will be running with some of my colleagues at the Herpetological Society of Singapore! #WCH10 #HerpSocSG
