Very much looking forward to giving this paper at ROSES on February 7th. The talk will be recorded and posted on YouTube.

This will be focused entirely on the gender wage gap in the WNBA!

Thanks to @jjreade.bsky.social for hosting me virtually!

Happy New Year! This year, I'm going to fix the issue with Dagenham & Redbridge, but in the meantime, it's NYD in the National League.

One relative home banker happened already yesterday - Solihull beating Tamworth. Halifax, Wealdstone and FGR are the others today.

Toss up for #oafc at Hartlepool.

What is tomorrow looking like in the National League?

Eastleigh and Rochdale the most likely home wins, followed by Forest Green and Barnet, Solihull then York and Hartlepool.

Gateshead most likely away winners, followed by #oafc and Altrincham.

I was hugely honoured to chair the first meeting of the #oafc Academic Advisory Board last Saturday before our home match against Wealdstone.

We are academic Latics fans from a range of disciplines and universities hoping to help the club make decisions.

Couple of weeks since I last produced these. What's going to happen in the National League?

It's "don't slip up day": the top 5 all play against teams towards the bottom of the table. York's trip looks the toughest on paper - but who knows what'll happen?

Really gutted that #oafc lost 2-1 to @leytonorientfc.bsky.social in the FA Cup this afternoon, but for me it'll be a day I doubt I'll forget.

I was asked to step in for Latics legend Roy Butterworth on the LaticsPlayer commentary this afternoon!

What's going to happen in the National League tomorrow night? Plenty of games on. We (#oafc) have to be expecting to beat Boston United (prob=66%), Gateshead the other biggest favourites against Rochdale.

Goals and Elo disagree on Braintree/Maidenhead...

James and this brilliant series of online Sports Economics seminars, changed the direction of my PhD, helped me understand economics better and introduced me to a great bunch of people. It's also been going for close to 5 years now!
For the last 4 years and 8 months I've been running an online seminar series: ROSES = Reading Online Sport Economic Seminars. It's brought me a huge amount of joy - new connections, fascinating people, great opportunities.

I've been posting about it on Twitter up to now. Time now to start here...

What is going to happen this weekend in the National League?

Forecasting is, of course, a fool's errand, and you'd be mad to place bets I reckon. I certainly don't. But I do like to have a sense about what realistic expectations are when my team plays.

Save me from the endless basketball, NFL and basketball posts on here!

Especially the ones where people put Twitter and Bluesky symbols on photos on American footballers...

Ten years ago this evening, an obsession with counting steps began. One that got intertwined with running, and tracing out the shapes of my runs on my phone thanks to GPS and technology. I've run over 29,000 kilometres since, apparently, and 2024 has been my most runningest year yet...
