My de-rusted #FM7 is not yet trusted. It intermittently does not boot to BASIC, but into a blinking cursor in top left corner. I guess it is trying to boot from a disk somehow even though there is no disk controller installed. Could it be a bad DIP switch?

Working on my rusted #FM7. I was getting ready to desolder the switches so that the rusted keyboard plate could be fixed but it turned out that the PCB with the switches can be unscrewed and the key/switch tops can be pushed through using a flat screw driver and a finger.

Akihabara Station at sun down. Checking out local arcades and restaurants. So far found plenty of candy cabs with Gradius and Salamander, but no R-Type yet. Also found MSX Aleste in a shop, but the price was pretty much terrible, so the search still goes on.

Completed the arcade version of R-Type in MAME using a d-pad on single life. I then continued to play the second loop and died in level 11. #1-ALL

Today I played through the entire arcade R-Type on MAME. Not saying I completed it because I was using save-states, but I am still pretty pumped up about it. I have a saved state for the beginning of each level with the ship equipped as it would be without dying. Means I can practice levels at will.

Finally completed Parodius on #MSX today. Visited the final boss eight or nine times before eventually beating him. Getting to him from the last checkpoint is a real ordeal.

Any of you #SHARP X1 people have a schematic for the CZ-850D monitor? Judging from the smell, something cooked inside when it made the wet "pop" sound. There was no white smoke though. My guess is it was some a non-essential capacitor as the monitor was still working before I shut it down.

Today I was just one flip of a switch away from frying a SHARP MZ-1500 by plugging it to 220V. This happened as I was previously playing with European versions of MZ-800 and MZ-700 and then casually swapping the Japanese MZ-1500 in. Glad that I stopped myself today. I must be more careful next time.

Wondering if it makes better sense for the Czech Republic to reconsider the purchase of F-35 in favor of something produced locally in Europe, such as the latest Gripen, Eurofighter or Rafale. Something that the US does not benefit from and cannot switch off.
