Some exhaust natural dye studies on fabric and yarns from leftover dye water, reused. All from plants, bugs, trees, roots, lichens, mushrooms, etc.

Natural dyed color shifted fabrics using iron! The above and below are the exact same fabrics but the top was shifted with iron. Pretty fascinating process and it happens almost instantaneously! Really pushes them into the forest and mossy greens, burgundies, grays, and browns. 🌳🦌

Well I flew too close to the sun and got burned: after years of my toothpaste and tube of deodorant that are 1 drawer apart I mixed them up and brushed my teeth with tube deodorant today, on my 45th birthday.

PSA 3:

Also botulism is no joke. It is tasteless, odorless, and doesn’t off-gas like other microorganisms and thrives in an anaerobic environment and begins to grow within 48 hours of improper canning. It can kill you from a spoonful or even smelling a jar! You will not know from smell or taste!

PSA Part 2:

be sure to ask the canner/gifter the source of their recipe. If they say “it’s a family recipe” I would not eat it and toss it (for your family’s safety!) The ONLY safe recipes are lab tested recipes from Ball or NCHFP or local extension offices- canning is a strict science not an art!

Annual Pre-Holiday PSA from a canner: if you get a jar as a gift ✨REMOVE THE METAL RING✨

The ring is ONLY used during canning and during transport. You WANT the seal to come off if the contents goes bad. You do NOT want a false seal if there is a leak in the jar. YOUR FAMILY COULD GET VERY SICK!

I don’t think younger people understand just how much time of our youth was spent uninfluenced. For example, I would go to the library and just spend hours reading the backs of books and take them home, check them out, read them, and then realize I hated it after many invested hours. Rinse, repeat.
