The editing on that whole episode felt off. Felt like they had to emergency edit around stuff that couldn't air at all and tried to put together what was left to fit air time. Not saying it's their fault, I assumed there was some story like someone pulled the "I don't want that out there" ripcord.

Alternative anime suggestion, Dandadan. It's goofy in the rarely seen FLCL vibe. Lots of action, but never taking itself too serious about it (serious for the characters is not the same as serious for the viewer). It's a bit of a rollercoaster benge watch, but seriously needs season 2.

Probably not exactly what your looking for, but I think Frieren: Beyond Journeys End would be up your alley. It's not going to cause you to bust a gut, but it is generally wholesome with the occasional interspersed action pieces. Very introspective/reflective in a high fantasy setting.
