Looks like Beano to me.
And that keeps in character with the gossip.

I HATE DEER!
As if a very poor start with cold, no pollinators flying, then the summer weather wasn't enough, now they steal what's left of the apples.
So, desperate times call for desperate measures. Diapers!

One of the prettiest apples in my orchard, almost ready!

Mine on G935 dwarfing in York, PA USA. Only 5 after a very poor pollination season, most varieties have/had very few this year.

New to me, Swallowtail caterpillars REALLY like carrot tops! They're doing a job on them!
But I will leave them be, they can't eat TOO much, can they?

Oh I have many more just as spooky but will spare you that unless asked.🙃
This is an apple tree, the peach they killed and a view inside a random branch.
I'll stop now.🙄

More cicadas.😵‍💫
August 27, 2025 at 6:01 PM
A bunch of cicada shells discarded.
I'm not trying to one-up you, but cicada damage in my orchard in 2021 was SO dramatic I like to show it when I have a listener.
I lost 1 peach and 2 young apple trees to them that year.

Lots of cicadas emerging! 🙄

Had a similar experience. We tried to remove the veneer from this 100 yr+ door and found it was made of many many pieces of 1 1_2 by 1 1/2 inch short pieces of pine. we thought it was so unusual that we decided to finish it in that state, and it has become a conversation piece in our front room.

Looks a lot like what we know as Japanese Wineberries here in south central PA USA.
They were imported to Europe from NE Asia in the 15th or 16th century by the early Dutch and English explorers. And exported to early North America some time later.
Probably the same berry?
