I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that all of the redactions in the Epstein file production were made to protect Trump, either by covering up things he said or did or negative things someone else said about him

3/ The original is gone for good, as are the century-old trees near it, but it can be rebuilt so it’s also a modern office. And Trump should be made to pay for it. None of the horrors Trump inflicts on this country is inevitable, and making that the default response only helps him succeed.

2/ But it’s not inevitable and the loss needs to be dealt with like any other disaster befalling a public building (think Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris). The East Wing can and should be reconstructed in a form as close to the original as professionals and skilled craftspeople can do it.

1/ Almost everyone, public (TV, newspapers, radio) and private is discussing Trump’s razing of the East Wing of the White House as if it must inevitably be followed by construction of his ballroom monstrosity.

I see no reason not to believe that the so-called ICE agents wearing masks, no badges or insignia and non-standard military costumes are January 6 insurrectionists recruited by Trump for his personal private army.

After Joe Biden was elected President in 2020, MAGA started selling T-shirts that said “86 46”. That’s okay, but seashells spelling out “86 47” are a criminal assassination threat. Ain’t numerology amazing?

Trump picked Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense for one reason and one reason alone. He will do exactly as he is told when Trump tells him to have American soldiers fire on protesting American citizens, as he tried in 2020. And that will be on all of the Republican Senators who voted to confirm.

If Zuckerberg is going to turn Facebook into another X, it seems reasonable to stop patronizing its advertisers. I’m keeping a list.

I’m very glad President Carter didn’t hang around for Trump, so President Biden will be officiating at the ceremonies on behalf of the country.

Trump’s nomination of dozens of clearly unqualified partisans to top positions in his coming Administration seems rather like a 21st Century reenactment on a much larger scale of Roman Emperor Caligula’s legendary appointment of his horse to the Roman Senate.
