They agree with them. I've emailed The New York Times multiple times with comments like this: They are not going to engage with these people seriously. They will just ignore their social media discourse, email them for some take, and accept that take with no pushback. They are complicit.

I like that New York City and Chicago are pushing back. This is why I think most of the liberal institutions like the New York Times and these PWIs don't actually believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion and are using Trump as a cover because at minimum they could have asked the question he asked
