My hot take is that all popular modern browsers are bad. I prefer some feature sets over others, but they are all such resource hogs, and all have shortcomings. This feature has been added to Firefox (my normal browser on my personal machine), but it feels like something I shouldn't *have* to do.

I read the NYT ‘48 hours without AI’ article so you don’t have to. You can hold a memorial service for my withered brain cells if you like. I feel actively dumber after reading this. What is the point? Even if it was a comedy exercise it isn’t funny — and it’s over **3000** words…

Amazing everyone is focusing on the Murdoch-and-Cuomo-irony-absent headline and not the fucking racist as shit copy that follows…

Another day, another American media source with a video talking about “the English <XYZ>” (the Premier League in this case) and illustrating it with a UK flag, not an English one. Guys, I know complaints about this (especially from Scots) is old hat, but you’ve had *centuries* to get this right!

First in-person day at #LFF. Showed up after the first batch of press screenings had already begun and it was surprisingly, pleasantly calm and quiet (so far).

Recently finished Silo S2, and have been really enjoying it. In particular, the S2 finale is one of the most gripping episodes of TV I've watched in some time. Rebecca Ferguson is superb, as are Common, Tim Robbins & others. Some really effective visual work, impeccable SFX & production design.

Without wanting to get too deep about favourite films/Letterboxd top fours, the thing posts like this fail to recognise is that favourite films can be a constantly moving thing and also context dependent. My favourite films when I was 10 are not the same at 20, 30, or when I turn 40 soon(ish).

Given he’s the least offensive to the lunatics, we’re living in a bizarre timeline where Jimmy Fallon could be the last symbolic bulwark against tyranny. Jimmy. Fallon.

Suggestions here and in the quotes are great, but I'll add some here as well...
B&W movies that are not 'boring':
Rashomon (1950)
Sweet Smell of Success (1957)
12 Angry Men (1957)
Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962)

My experience of Nate Silver is he is not a serious person. I mean…read this for fucks sake: “Blueskyism's peak actually came before Bluesky was a thing”. You can’t just make up words by sticking “-ism” at the end, write 3,000 words about their rise and fall, and call yourself a thought leader.
