This is a lovely tiny (9cm tall) replica by Vassilis Politakis - I got it from a souvenir shop just outside the museum in Heraklion.

I was rather anxious about the Getty exhibition - there didn't seem to be much time for the exhibits to get back to Bulgaria, but everything was back on display. Although some of our group were very confused by a funeral stele in Nessebar which was still lying on the floor...

You are right! There are two doors, one with a Medusa & the other with what looks like a Helios, and the picture I chose to post is the Helios - well spotted!

Sorry I'm arriving on this fascinating thread a bit late! I saw an almost identical coin in the marvellous Labyrinth Exhibition at the Ashmolean a couple of years ago. Here are some photos of it (number 2) plus another coin (1) showing the Labyrinth & the Minotaur; also a tile stamp of the Labyrinth

Here's a lovely little fragment of wall-painting (dated 1345 - 1240 BCE) showing two warriors wearing the same style of helmet, from that same exhibition.

The restoration has been in progress for a while - when I visited in February you could see inside, as they had removed one part of the sarcophagus

That's a lovely photo of this marvellous statuette. Here are 2 photos of the site where it was found in Siteia - it's really well presented, with a fine graphic showing the four different places where parts of the statuette were found: strongly suggestive of deliberate & violent destruction.
