I suspect that the extent of the British Empire and the economic power of the U.S. has had a lot to do with it.

I hear different things from my friends/colleagues for whom English is a second language. It has a lot of illogical aspects. Hungarian (which I do not speak) has been held up as a far more logically arranged language.

How about 'none of the above'. Whack job, but a real threat.

It is indeed. Off to the stars, albeit very slowly! Among many amazing aspects is the improvements to the deep space network that have kept it in communication with 'home'!!

Tor, could you post something on how solar array efficiency is measured? A lot of competing claims out there!

Perhaps why they seem fixated on No Kings somehow HAVING to be funded by Soros, or someone like him. They can't conceive of an actual grassroots reaction to their fascism.

The more things change... The long arc of refrigerant developments is interesting. Propane and ammonia present acute safety issues that Freons don't, but without the long term ozone and global warming impacts. Designing for minimum inventory helps to mitigate the safety risks.

And they knew plenty about terrorist attacks...

Interesting. I wonder how much of their poly capacity is accounted for by TCS, by silane, and by fluidized bed. The latter has much much lower energy consumption than the usual CVD route, but might not have the purity required?? Recent failed restart of the Moses Lake silane/FB facility relevant?

As a former Fed worker safety guy this rings very true!

Hey, come ON people!!
Commissions??
July 24, 2025 at 3:24 PM
It is a lie. The CSB specifically does investigations EPA and OSHA cannot!
July 14, 2025 at 9:21 PM
Good grief, they are losing it. Big tent, people. Purity tests are banned for the duration of the emergency!!!
July 13, 2025 at 11:13 PM
As opposed to effectiveness...

Quick response is critical. There is a cost to keeping resources available for quick deployment, but that's the point in emergency response.

Yep.

Exactly. Circular firing squads are a really, really, bad idea!

Isolation is bad. I found commuting by rail to be much preferred, but for a short enough commute probably not so much.
