Maker of notebooks prized by musicians. Observer of late modern performing arts centres whose evolution is being influenced by rock’roll.
And the loopy, trippy window displays by Simon Doonan. And those magnificently, hilariously droll ads with taglines by Glenn O’Brien. And just a few blocks away the wit and warmth of Richard Martin and Harold Koda’s exhibitions at the Fashion Institute.

The book I’m writing about rock’roll influencing the evolution of the Sydney Opera House relies heavily on your Design Research book + footnoting screenshots of your social media posts & those of @cmonstah.bsky.social

It looks like a mausoleum

And the design is forgettably bad & doesn’t illustrate the acronym. Yearning for William Golden’s CBS eye “looking at the world” & John J Graham’s NBC peacock announcing colour tv.

The ones I get served are mostly dumb folk medicine “cures” that go on for 2 or 3 minutes if I don’t hit skip.

The details in this story are wild … fossils unearthed … red leather couches stuffed with feathers … hanging art by drilling into the walls and filling the holes when the art’s taken down !!!!

I heartily agree. I support @u24.gov.ua the wonderful Ukrainian government initiative and @strategywoman.bsky.social who writes extraordinarily beautiful accounts of Ukrainian history and contemporary culture from Kyiv.

There’s a similar new neighbourhood in Sydney, Barangaroo, surrounded by cultural institutions. It’s similarly near death. I give it a negative Seinfeld index, no wonderfully mundane life on the streets.

Congratulations. So brilliantly deserved.

She’s an absolute treasure. Her books on the Design Research store and writing about architecture are crucial to a book I’m writing about rock’n’roll influencing the evolution of the Sydney Opera House.

Especially because Allegra Spender’s office is deeply engaged with the community all the time, not just during election campaigns.

I noticed these signs at an early polling place in Wentworth this morning. They outnumber all the signs from all the candidates. #auspol

I had a perfectly civil encounter with the Liberal candidate for Wentworth this morning. I said I couldn’t get past Dutton’s issues (Trump, climate, etc) all she could say was maybe new voices could start to change the party from within. Not an encouraging selling point.

What I’m most sad about with the Dutton inspired lies & cruelty is that it makes me anxious about good news, or signs of a kinder more intelligent community emerging. I don’t have the heart to be let down by false hope.

The sense of entitlement is staggering.

I’ve just read your book in Sydney, Australia. I enjoyed it immensely, particularly your fluidly unobtrusively quoting of so many source materials to bring a world, refracted through film, to life.

This quote from the Saturday Paper posted by @palaceletters.bsky.social sums it up well. “Albanese on Peter Dutton: “He’s the person who walked out on the Apology for the Stolen Generations. There’s never been a moment too big for Peter Dutton to show how small his vision for Australia is.” #auspol

Did you see this @number10cat.bsky.social post?

Fascinatingly intelligent and compelling conversation. Thank you for this. So useful and relevant for Australia where I’m listening from.

I’m so pleased you’re okay.
