Part time writer, videographer, and code ruiner. My head fell in the cheese dip back in 1957.

What’s the last film you watched?
Is it just me or doesn’t this review sound like a 5 star rating??

Dona Flor and her two husbands, Harakiri, Pacific Rim, Tetsuo: The Iron Man. All pretty intense in very different ways

Saw Barry Lyndon and Le Samouraï at the cinema, both fantastic but Barry Lyndon is next level on the big screen, highly recommended to anyone who gets a chance to see it at the cinema. Onibaba is also an incredibly beautiful film that I’d love to see in cinema one day. Long live the new flesh!

I actually enjoyed the new(ish) Candyman quite a lot, especially watching it back to back with the original

In the 1930s a commercial transatlantic flight meant 4 days in a zeppelin.

By 1946, when Hitchock's Notorious was made, it took under 18 hours in an aeroplane.

Quote from a character in that film: "we can expect rocket ships to be carrying us along the ocean very soon."

Reminded me of AI hype.

Watched Stray Dog (1949) earlier, the first Kurosawa I’ve seen that wasn’t set in a historical period. Although ironically it is now an interesting window into the post-war Tokyo of the bygone era in which it was made. Sadly, ACAB includes Murakami and Sato 😢

Just watched Notorious (1946), great film. Very quotable. My favourite line: “I was a fatheaded guy, full of pain”

Watched Shin Godzilla. Imagine if Armando Iannucci wrote the first draft of a sick Godzilla script.

I watched Violent Cop. Everyone on Letterboxd compares it to Dirty Harry but I haven’t seen Dirty Harry so for me it was more like Beverley Hills Cop meets Carlito’s Way.

It relies more on emotion and tension to raise the audience’s heart rate than bombast. Overall a disturbing but good time
