Buddy had me make some slate coasters for him, there was one blank to spare. So I made myself a new coaster for my desk.

Alas, most of my time spent reading is in audiobooks while I work, so Kaiju does not get to keep me company.

I don't normally go for YA books, but I enjoyed the Hunger Games books, so when Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes showed up as available I grabbed it.

So far it's pretty good. It's also really kinda interesting to look at the world building elements that the movies leave out of these books.

Despite no past knowledge or connection to Red Sonja as a character or the world of Hyboria , this is a highly enjoyable book. Gail establishes the world and characters in it well, and tells a compelling story.

@gailsimone.bsky.social I hope you're planning to write more prose work.

Don't mind me, just playing with my new toy.

With how dark Kaiju's eyes are, it kinda leads to a bit of a creepy effect in laser engraving. I may need to try again at a slightly lower power on the laser.

Next on my player once Desolation Called Peace is finished (which will be during my work day today).

Don't really know Red Sonja, but I like @gailsimone.bsky.social 's writing, and would practically listen to Felicia Day narrate the phone book.

One of the reasons I wanted a laser cutter was making gaming accessories.

Sure, I *could* have gone out and found someone else's design for a flight stand, but I wanted to see if I could do it myself. Probably entirely too much time in Inkscape later, I have a functional design!

Why yes, I did make a wooden D6.

The file was meant for thinner material, probably about 4mm, but that's fine.

It's more about learning what my laser cutter can do.

I have sorta figured out how to use it. >.>

It functions to put a hole in a piece of paper, has functional cooling. Just gotta finish the ventilation then learn to actually use it. >.>

My work week: taking apart electronic displays in retail stores to update and/or repair them.

My weekend: taking apart a laser cutter to repair it.
