Mic nerd here (also worked with a guy who was on Regan’s audio team when he was in the navy). For about 60 years, presidents used a pair of Shure SM57s (one live, one backup). Trump changed to a single SM57 with a custom clip. This looks like a straight on view of Trump’s standard single mic setup.

Yep - he would have been America’s Merkel.

I believe the lens is a Nikon 50-300 f/4.5 AI, so F3 is a good guess for the body.

My theory is that if the blackmail is so vile, the purchase of the blackmail implicates the purchaser just as much as the blackmailer.

This is on top of a lot of loft movement units built in Downtown Denver in the early 90's and then a lot of condos built before the 2008 recession - but part of "it's not so bad" is that there were approximately zero people living downtown in its nadir in the late 80's.

Denver hasn't done so bad for a cow town. Denverinfill hasn't done a multifamily residential project summary since 2018 but most of the under construction and proposed units in this graphic were built - 20,000 some odd housing units within 1.5 miles of downtown.

Bill Clinton is mine as well.

Venezuela is Rubio’s check clearing. This looks like like Riley Moore and Tom Cole bought their own Truth.

Reading about Nazi aircraft engine production is eye opening about how their economy was not functional and how far behind the US they actually were technically.

None of it is stated explicitly on screen but it fits with the facts we see in TNG and DS9.

The civilian planner's plan works! Five years later the military government of Cardassia is overthrown. Unfortunately, Gul Dukat leads the civilian government, and DS9 is all about the path that goes down...

Federation civilian war planners estimate the 2 billion dead from the Cardassian war makes it not worth fighting. They plan a long term diplomatic effort with covert operations. This enrages reactionary elements within starfleet who want to fight and they arm the border colonies.

Sometime around 2022 Meta realized they would get more time spent in the app if they simply put the porn in the app. Now there’s a scantily clad woman doing mundane everyday tasks in my feed every day.

Who else in American politics played a character of their same name on a popular TV show for 14 seasons? Nearly every American had heard of the character Donald Trump, a successful businessman, in 2015.

Partially due to this, I hired a medium format film photographer for my wedding. It could be argued that also isn’t “real” because the photographer will be posing us but that’s more of an argument on the philosophy of photography and not the blade runner hellscape we are diving headfirst into.
October 24, 2025 at 1:08 AM
So does putting a cryptographic stamp on that mean it’s “real”? I’d just say that transfers the arbiter of “reality” to the tech company who designed the phone camera and although Apple and Samsung are not yet totally evil we can see the way the rest of the industry is headed.
October 24, 2025 at 1:04 AM
An image from a modern phone is already
a stream of multiple images mashed together. Many of the processing steps use machine learning. This is done to overcome limitations of the small sensor and lens. The ”raw” file you are getting from Apple is not the raw sensor data like a professional camera.

WashU is a safety school for the children of elites who fuck off in high school and can't get into an Ivy. It definitely has the drama of an Ivy. Ran into plenty of people there from the high end NY boarding schools so this guy is probably someone along the lines of a friend of a younger brother.

The pattern of settlement on the plains was based on steam train transportation. With agricultural productivity up 300% over the last 70 years and the invention of trucks, it's no wonder young people leave. There's still money in the farms but they don't need enough workers to support the towns.

Arvada is great, actually. They pedestrianized their Main Street and have an electric commuter rail to downtown with a 30-min clock face schedule. It’s pretty much the only Denver suburb I think I would like living in. I believe these protesters are over by the highway for greater visibility.

In business, I’m seeing that the people in my office whose job it was to write meaningless slop are now writing meaningless slop with good grammar. It doesn’t mean more people read it, though.

The other oddball is Keystone Resort, which appears to be a transdimensional space that is simultaneously the westernmost point of both Plano, TX and Naperville, IL.

The ski towns are also Denver, except Aspen, which is The Hamptons.

Ahhaha, they had data that showed their thingey was damaged but they didn’t see it because they were plotting strain vs time rather than strain vs stress (depth)… I had one undergrad course in mechanics of materials 15 years ago and could tell you that’s not how you do it.

One of my old coworkers was a pepper with a bunker and everyone else in the office spent a lot of time trying to get him to slip up and tell us where it was. As a joke. Mostly.
