Remember always the AP Style guide comes from a time when column inches in a newspaper were dear and every trick they could use to jam a few more characters into a line became acceptable use. That extra "s" in things like "Harris's" add up over the length of a whole newspaper.

For any academic who needs to hear this: your institution will not love you back. No matter how much you sacrifice for them, how much you accomplish, they will not love you back. At the end of the day, institutions are corporations, not families. They act in their own interests, not yours.

It's very hard for public figures to win defamation suits, but climate scientist (and former Mindscape guest) Michael Mann @michaelemann.bsky.social just did, since the lies about him were so egregious. Good for him!
