Given the privatisation fiasco has already cost the country north of £200b, I don’t think we can afford another £100b to re-nationalise. But we absolutely need a different, better model, possibly shared ownership or CIC. Hopefully some sense will come from Sir Jon Cunliffe’s review.

If Labour wants to build 3 million homes and provide decent infrastructure to support this, Rachel Reeves and the Government would do well to push the water regulators to do their jobs and hold the privatised, debt ridden Water Companies to account.
