The Tories go on about sovereignty. Brexit gave us sovereignty but cost the country dear. But ironically, they don’t mind giving away sovereignty to private equity (e.g. complete rip off loss of democratic control of a life essential - water). Maybe this one reason why their poll figures are now 16%

Dear Keir Starmer and Ed Miliband, in what economic world does it make sense for a company like Drax to make a profit of £1.1b while subsidised by the British taxpayer to the tune of £869m (The Times, 3/4/25)? Who designed this scheme? Why can we not obtain better value for the UK taxpayer?

I grew up with images of Americans ‘protecting’ others e.g. Audy Murphy. McClusky, Armstrong. Image after 28/02/25? A man battered, weary to the bone but still proud, wanting to stand up tall. But with two standing over him, saying ‘give us your money.’ Semper fidelis.

I hope someone in the UK Government has figured out that when Kier Starmer meets President Trump today he should be making clear Europe must share in his trade deal with Ukraine if Europe is to be responsible for underwriting security guarantees for them - which it seems it’s how it is.
