Rio Grande from Taos Junction Bridge
November 16, 2025 at 7:08 PM
I don't know if it'll help, but I caught this big boy not far south of the Taos Junction Bridge on the road from Pilar at dusk. This is an iPhone 15 ProMax shot at 5x straight from the phone. No editing whatsoever. Quite a thrill.

Northern Lights from Llano Quemado (Ranchos de Taos) tonight! Somewhat visible with the naked eye but the iPhone 15 ProMax does a great job. This is straight from the camera, no edits.

How to live in an old adobe (one of an infinite series). Good camera, PS, & shameless love of art are helpful.

Shaved, showered, washed my hair, & VOTED for increased taxes to benefit Taos county in so many ways. No ballroom, tho. Was 45th to vote at the Llano Quemado Community Center. Kinda tired & quiet myself ATM but I haven't eaten anything today yet so I think I will. #BigDoings

I swear I hardly tweaked this. El Norte sunsets can be crazy. When I pulled the shadows back, out came the colors. Spent hours getting it to where at least of few of you would believe it.

Wasn't joking about the earrings. Appears they have some *gold*-colored ones as well. AND they added the "e"!

CREAM CHEESE KANSAS
11/01/2025

This was just after I opened the plastic box where my hot motel bagel had melted the cream cheese and the whole thing fell out onto the steering wheel, so of course I took this shot thru the windshield at 70 mph to quiet my mind.

AX MURDER HOUSE
10/31/2025

If this means anything to you, you are either from darkest Iowa or very strange. I even went inside. The gift shop (!) sells earrings with little dangly silver ax heads. I would also spell it with an "e" but this is the Midwest and they're set in their ways.

CABALLOS SALVAJES

I have been places... Shot this scene in southern CO on the way back this evening very close to the aptly named Wild Horse Mesa. NM state line is just down the road. That's the Blanca Massif in the background.

I've had a small house lizard for some time. It's been living under some guitar cases. While I don't mind, I noticed just now that it (she?) certainly looks pregnant so I got the little beast outside with a combination of grabbing and shooing. Little ones would only have died inside.

While the performers played, the fire grew and grew. Later that night burning embers fell in town. Mind-boggling.

See the burn scars just below? I was at an outdoor concert on the north side of town when the fire started on Pueblo land, July 4, 2003. It was surreal!

(Please see preceding post.) Rediscovered a shot of the *interior* of the Butterfield stage at the Fort Wallace Museum in Wallace, KS. Where I’m sitting looks just like the opposite cushions. The flat thing in the middle is a kind of jump seat that’s folded down.

UTTERLY TRUE

Found this in my archives. You know what happened 2 months later. This image from Llano Quemodo taken on my old Pentax K-x is barely edited at all, mostly just a little noise reduction. It really looked like this and sometimes still does. Guess I needed to remember.
