LLMs make a statistical guess each time. They don’t develop a correct answer and remember it for later use. You can literally ask it the same question ten times and get ten different answers.

Failing in important ways…. Like needing a user to feed it the data they’ve asked for? The query is pretty easy—cross reference two lists (ARC & CSPDC localities), then look up unemployment rates on like five places.

Was offered a posisition last week— salary is around US avg, inline w/ my industry, 100% reasonable. As a sanity check on *my* side, I plugged my salary from a decade ago into an inflation adjuster. The NEW offer was $10k UNDER what I earned ten years ago. Serious and meaningful erosion.

I’m not online enough to understand what sprouted this thread but thanks for it. It made me realized how I’ve slowly given up on dressing—wfh, mid-life weight gain, etc... I used to care—even as a straight, American man—I’d at least tuck my tee in. Now to start the process of enjoying clothes again.

Yep! When I called my local station (fairly rural, but in a college town), they said “we’re worried, but the community always comes through.” They’re at about 11% of funding. I upped my monthly, but after canceling Paramount+, we’re sending that expense (and then some) to a station more in need.

Or maybe one of the rural stations that depend almost solely on CPB funding?

I set an electronic kitchen timer for a little past when the dryer should be done, placed in earshot but another room. Forces me to turn it off, and since I’m on the way, take it out. Dried laundry goes in my favorite chair. Fold or sit somewhere else.
