As there has been quite a surge of activity here recently compared to how it was when this came out, I think there is nothing morally wrong (pun intended) in resharing this recent study by me and colleagues.

We had a paper on ideal participants for social media political discussions in #dis2025. While it is a bit late to advertise that paper, I did write a short post about the paper to our research group's substack: sociallycompute.substack.com/p/what-makes...
What makes an ideal participant of social media political discussions?
One only needs to log in to services such as X or BlueSky to see that one prominent way of using social media is to discuss politics with peers.

I've had a review experience where the manuscript contained multiple references with the broad subject area kind of correct, but the studies and their results were still way too far away from the claims. Maybe this explains what was going on in there.
This was chatgpt 4-o
Other models would bring back refs that didn't exist as of old, even with reasoning and search turned on. 4-o gave the real-but-non-supporting refs.

In my experience reviewers often don't check references even for key claims. Nasty combination.
