If the NYT cared to check facts instead of peddling again conspiracy theories about what scientists did or did not think (see QT'd thread), they'd realize that what happened in April 2020 was actually a forewarning for what is currently happening -- arbitrary political cancellations of grants. ▫️6/6
Well worth a read. Not because of the content - it's total horseshit - but because it's a prime example of what happens when you mix anti-science, conspiracism, arrogance, and a total lack of expertise.
Maybe one day NYT OpEds will engage with the actual science 🤷♂️.

If it’s true to the book, hell yeah! Dune finally got it right on the third try. No diss to the priors, but missed the book.
I think Hollywood usually views SF as “yeah whatever, do what you want” whereas they would rarely seriously alter the plot of the classics.
