The #SMBE2025 has finally come to an end. It was a pleasure to attend so many wonderful talks and learn about a wide range of fascinating projects. Huge thanks to the organizers for the opportunity to present my current work on adaptive Denisovan introgression!

We find an overlap of signatures of selection and genomic regions showing local ancestry deviation, which may indicate selection events facilitated by admixture. For example, the selection signals in the LCT locus and the MHC region both showed Steppe ancestry enrichment. 🏇

We find an overlap of signatures of selection and genomic regions showing local ancestry deviation, which may indicate selection events facilitated by admixture. For example, the selection signals in the LCT locus and the MHC region both showed Steppe ancestry enrichment. 🏇
Using 704 whole genome sequences, we discovered novel candidates for positive selection putatively associated with immunity (UBL7, SMYD1, VAC14) and diet (FDFT1)🥩. Interestingly, SMYD1 is related to the presence of antigen AnWj, a receptor of Haemophilus influenzae.🦠
