It is way past time for the UK government & the BBC to get off X & for Musk to be treated as a threat to national security.

The world's richest man is using his site to promote civil war, ethnic violence & the overthrow of an elected government.

You won't win him over with another conference on AI

British NIMBYism is truly a sight to behold.

“We are rejecting this solar farm, because one time I saw an electric vehicle on fire, which reminded me that decades ago a coal mining disaster killed lots of children”.

This would be laughable if it wasn't so serious: yet again, the Tories are claiming that we can get "all our oil and gas" from the North Sea and that we should be doing even more to support the industry to extract.

There are several reasons why we should treat this with maximum scepticism:

Back in May 2021 I posted on twitter about a journey I'd undertaken to find a tree that I can see from our bedroom window. I've decided to post it verbatim on here as lots of people really enjoyed it. So, here it is…

Among his other interesting comments today, President Trump has alleged that there's a century worth of oil & gas drilling left in the North Sea that the UK should incentivise in order to get energy costs down.
Let's take a closer look at the veracity of that idea, shall we?

Lots of claims flying around this week (eg Nigel Farage who thinks we can be "self-sufficient" in gas) that the UK can drill its way to energy security. Here's why that's a fantasy, as I explained to Reform's Richard Tice on LBC earlier:

The Trump Administration's war on climate science, its mania for fossil fuels and its torching of environmental regulations risk doing far more damage than its tariff policy.

Yet the former hardly flickers on the news radar by comparison with the latter.
BREAKING from @science.org: The Trump admin is seeking to kill nearly all climate research at NOAA, its climate science agency.

Its near-final budget proposal would end all NOAA research labs, academic institutes, and regional climate centers. And it wants to fully end the NOAA Research division.

Yet more evidence that party funding rules desperately need reform.

British politics is painfully open to capture by wealthy vested interests.

And to the oil magnates, tech-bros and right-wing ideologues emboldened by Trump, the sums needed to capture UK parties are not even loose change.
Kemi Badenoch ditched the Tories’ commitment to reaching Net Zero by 2050 after accepting donations from funders of the Global Warming Policy Foundation and Net Zero Watch, both of which have campaigned for the target to be scrapped.
