surely others on this platform remember the dark clippy meme about the suicide note.

little did we know then

This article was heartbreaking. Telling ChatGPT your active suicide plans just to have the platform do nothing about it. And then having the AI edit your suicide note? It’s too much.

“forcefully throwing a sub-style sandwich.”

good thing it wasn’t a hard roll? it’s always the tough guys who can’t take it.

but i’m a bit surprised at how little i’m hearing people talk about trump’s new “you spit; we hit” rule.
The DC sandwich guy has been charged with assault for shouting at a CBP officer, throwing a sub into his chest, and then running off.

"I did it. I threw the sandwich," he said while he was being processed.

markwayne mullin, who challenged SOB to a fight in a senate hearing, is always ready to run away in the event of a carjacking. be prepared, kids!

also good to know that he’s more worried about a carjacking than an accident that could kill him, because now we can be sure that he can’t do math.
Markwayne Mullin: "I'm not joking when I say this. I drive around Washington DC in my Jeep - yes, I drive myself - & I don't buckle up. The reason I don't buckle up - people can say whatever they want - is because of carjacking. I don't want to be stuck in my vehicle when I need to exit in a hurry."

some really good stuff in here.

“Farmworkers want people to push back against ICE. It is a risk to come out and challenge ICE publicly, knowing that there is a high potential of being targeted, but at the same time we can’t let communities be terrorized.”
"The state of the country is dismal. The decline of the United States into a more open form of authoritarianism continues...But cracks in the right-wing offensive are also starting to emerge."

People are being forced out of DC. The cost of living is too high, and Trump is waging an all-out assault on the District.

It should be easier and more affordable to build a life here.

That's why I’m running for DC Council in Ward 1.

I'm Jewish and I think about antisemitism all the time. I can't tell you how fucking weird it is that Homeland Security posting literal neo-Nazi propaganda generates less discussion about the threat to Jews than a mayoral candidate who believes Palestinians are human beings.

Even a 25% drop in rent wouldn’t fix the affordability crisis. The real fix? Expanding rental assistance to all who qualify, like we do with food stamps and Social Security.

By Alex Schwartz @thenewschool.bsky.social and Kirk McClure @universityofkansas.bsky.social:
What if universal rental assistance were implemented to deal with the housing crisis?
If the government supported rental assistance in amounts commensurate with the tax benefits given to homeowners, it would drastically alleviate the housing affordability crisis.

What badass investigative reporter is going undercover with one of these ICE goon squads? This is, like, THE story right now. Who trains? What rules of engagement? What propaganda do they consume? How do they recruit, and weed out non-sadists? Would they follow orders to shoot regime enemies?
